I remember when I read this book when I was, like, eight years old. Even then I thought, "OK, the robot I understand, but a clown too? That's just out there."
Speaking as someone who knows how to juggle, you can't throw a horse away from your body like that and expect it to continue to move in a circular motion, unless you use so much backspin that the g-forces would kill the horse.
Also, if I were Dr. Banner, I would find some way to incorporate those pants into my wardrobe so that I would lose another pair every time I lost my temper.

That was the sound of my mind blowing.
I remember reading that (reprint)as a young teenager. It made a lot more sense back then.
